The annual AFI Fest is a Los Angeles film festival hosted by the American Film Institute. Featuring projects from across the globe, the lineup includes several genres of film including fiction and nonfiction features and shorts. Panels and conversations with filmmakers and actors are also included in the program.
The AFI Fest is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, meaning that it is a qualifying film festival for short film categories at the Academy Awards.
This year’s program includes the premieres of documentaries like “Music by John Williams” and “Zurawski v. Texas,” executive produced by Jennifer Lawrence and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, which follows the impact of restrictive abortion laws in the United States following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.
