Ariana Grande returned to her Glinda-inspired method dressing in a custom look by Thom Browne for the “Wicked: For Good” premiere in Singapore on Thursday.
The Oscar-nominated actress, joined by costars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh and more, wore an off-the-shoulder gown, crafted in shades of muted and icy blue and silver with all-over sparkling embellishments on the bodice.
The top of Grande’s gown included subtle button detailing running down the front placket. The fitted bodice transitioned to a voluminous tulle skirt, mimicking the material that cascaded from the ends of Grande’s three-quarter length sleeves.

As for glam, Grande continued her Glinda-fied approach, with a serene visage that included lightly lined eyes and a pop of pink on her lip. The actress’ hair was coiffed into a classic tight chignon, featuring an asymmetrical hairline to frame her face. Grande went minimal with her accessories, save for a pair of drop earrings. The actress and singer’s look was curated by stylist Law Roach.
Grande’s custom Thom Browne gown marks a departure from the Oscar-nominated “Wicked” star’s most recent press tour look. For the film’s London premiere on Nov. 10, Grande went vintage in a one-shoulder, voluminous black gown by Gilbert Adrian, also known as Adrian Adolph Greenburg, circa 1952.
The gown had a deeper meaning beyond its sinuous, dark Glinda aura. Adrian, a noted costume designer, is responsible for curating the wardrobe and costumes for the 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz.” Among the memorable costumes he crafted, Adrian was responsible for creating the ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale.
The original slippers are currently on display in the Smithsonian.
For both “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good,” Oscar-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell was tasked with recreating the shoes for the film adaptations of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals. “I really just sank into the world of spirals because that seemed to be the best way to represent the most whimsical shoe that I could,” Tazewell previously told WWD of his design.
“Wicked: For Good” follows the turbulent relationship between Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, played by Cynthia Erivo, and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, played by Grande, after Dorothy Gale crash lands into Oz. The film hits theaters Nov. 21.
