Nike’s New Low-Profile Double-Laced Sneaker Reissue Is Being Compared to Miu Miu

The upcoming Sprint Sister retro arrives at stores soon.

At this point, nearly every athletic and designer footwear brand has its own spin on the low-profile sneaker trend. With models like the Astrograbber and Moon Shoe, Nike has tapped into the trend by exploring its 1970s archive, and there’s more to come soon.

Next up from the Nike vault is the Sprint Sister, a largely forgotten women’s track shoe from 1979 which is reborn as a lifestyle sneaker for 2026. The slim-structured model pushes the slim-soled boundaries with its barely there rubber underfoot tooling. Its upper features paneled suede, which takes on a faded brown look in the Sprint Sister’s first-to-surface Ridgerock/Ocean Cube/Dark Cinder/Sail colorway.

The specific Ridgerock style has other unique of-the-moment details including contrasting double shoelaces on each shoe for a total of four different lace looks. This detail is reminiscent of Miu Miu’s popular New Balance 530 SL collaboration, which featured a similar lacing configuration and earthy colorways. Nike adds further flair to the Ridgerock look with a patterned Swoosh logo.

While the Ridgerock look pictured here sports the aforementioned Miu Miu-coded details, there will be other, more reserved versions of the Sprint Sister with standard lacing and Swoosh logos, including a Pink Foam colorway.

And although the Sprint Sister is a somewhat obscure reissue, it’s not the first time the model has been rereleased. The line saw a revival in the late 2000s and was offered in various textures and patterns, but this is the first time Nike has applied the double-laced look.

Nike isn’t the first brand to seemingly come for a piece of the Miu Miu x New Balance market share. In 2025, Adidas reissued its comparable Ghost Sprint sneaker which was styled with a double-shoelace configuration by retailer Size?.

Readers won’t have to wait long for a chance to try out the Nike Sprint Sister as this Ridgerock colorway is set to be released in March for $110 exclusively in women’s sizing. The style code for this pair is IR5693-256, and readers can expect several other Sprint Sister looks to arrive throughout the year.
