Nike’s less-seen Foamposite model, the Air Foamposite Pro, is primed to receive a big retro push beginning in the back half of this year. As the anticipated releases keep stacking up, information recently surfaced regarding yet another new style.
This time, the Nike Air Foamposite Pro will take on a two-tone Gym Red/Black color scheme. Although in-hand images have yet to leak, past Foamposite releases give an indication of what the upcoming pair may look like.
A 2002 Varsity Red Air Foamposite Pro donned a bright red Foamposite shell upper with red branding, a black jewel Swoosh and black accents. The ’02 style’s upper featured the usual glossy Foamposite finish, but wasn’t quite as metallic looking as a 2016 University Red follow-up. That version featured near-identical color blocking as its Varsity Red predecessor, but used an ever so slightly different shade of red.

Another pair, 2015’s Gym Red Air Foamposite Pro, may also hint at what to expect. That version eschewed the two-tone appearance for a mostly all-red look which included a checkered carbon fiber texture across its upper. The tonal sneaker piggybacked off the popularity of 2014’s Nike Air Yeezy 2 Red October and given that all-red shoes have since fallen out of the trend cycle, it would be unexpected for Nike to revisit this particular pair.
While we await firmer details on the Gym Red style, there are plenty of other Air Foamposite Pros on the way including the Pearl style made famous by Ray Allen’s Jesus Shuttlesworth character in the film “He Got Game,” the first-ever reissue of the University Blue colorway and the return of a Triple Black makeup after a 22-year wait.
According to Sneaker Market Romania, the Gym Red/Black Nike Air Foamposite Pro will be released in June with a style code of HF0794-600. Retail pricing has not been disclosed, but recent Air Foamposite Pro releases have been priced at $230.
