Nike’s ahead-of-its-time Foamposite line is best known today for its flagship Air Foamposite One and Air Foamposite Pro shoes, but there’s much more to the archive than the most visible models. One of the Foamposite’s siblings, the Air Flightposite, has been less seen in retro form, particularly in its sequels. Now, a never-before-reissued member of the Flightposite family is set for a return.
According to insiders @zsneakerheadz and Sneaker Files, the Nike Air Flightposite 3 will rerelease for the first time ever next year. Worn by former NBA greats including Kevin Garnett and Alan Houston, the Air Flightposite 3 was originally released in 2001 and was part of Nike’s experimental Alpha Project line.

The third and final entry in the Flightposite series, the model was issued in a dozen different colorways. Many of them featured white Foamposite shells with color accents, which made them ideal for college basketball players to wear as team shoes.
From a tech and visual standpoint, the Air Flightposite 3 may be one of the most daring designs in the entire Foamposite franchise. It’s equipped with two stability straps that connect to large lenticular hologram pods on the lateral and medial sides — details which were likened to “alien eyes” by many fans. The Flightposite 3 was also notable for shedding the Foamposite shell to an ultra-thin structure, allowing for more flexibility. Like other models in the Foamposite family, the Flightposite 3 featured Nike’s internal Zoom Air cushioning.
Nike’s first Flightposite, the Air Flightposite One, has received the most reissues of the entire line with several rereleases of its Metallic Gold (aka “Green Goblin”) colorway. Its sequel, the Air Flightposite 2, was brought back in 2009 and again in 2019.
The Nike Air Flightposite 3 is expected to be released during spring 2027. Retail pricing and specific colorways have not yet been confirmed, but it’s likely that original styles, including the Black/Metallic Silver/Royal Blue/Allure pair seen here, will be included in the retro campaign.
