New Balance Rebrands NBA Draft Day as Flagg Day, Announces First Cooper Flagg Product Launch

The 18-year-old prospect is expected to be drafted number one overall by the Dallas Mavericks.

The 2025 NBA draft is just over a week away and while June 25 may collectively be known as draft day, as far as the number one pick and New Balance are concerned, it’s Flagg Day.

That is of course Cooper Flagg, the Duke alum and consensus national player of the year who’s all but confirmed as this year’s top selection. Ahead of the big day, New Balance has rebranded draft day as Flagg Day.

According to a press release, “Flagg Day is about putting in the work; it’s the culmination of years and years of early mornings and late nights. Flagg Day is about the pure love of the game; no glitz, no glamour, just the ball, the court and the enjoyment of the experience.”

New Balance announced the signing of Flagg in August 2024. The Newport, Maine native grew up just minutes from New Balance’s Skowhegan manufacturing facility, giving him a deep appreciation for the brand at an early age.

“I grew up wearing New Balance, and I appreciate their authentic connection to my community,” Flagg said in an August press release. “The focus and growth of the brand in basketball and our shared values and history drew me in. From day one, it was clear that this would be a family-like partnership. I’m so excited to join this family and help them grow the category with young athletes.”

While a Flagg signature sneaker is likely in the works, the rising star will wear the New Balance Hesi Low v2 model to kick off the 2025–26 NBA season. The sneaker is currently available from New Balance’s e-commerce store and select New Balance retailers for $110.

The NBA draft begins June 25 at 8 pm. ET. Flagg is expected to be drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the first overall pick.
