A new low-top variation of Michael Jordan’s fifth signature sneaker will be released exclusively for kids in a colorway inspired by a sandwich that’s beloved by children and adults alike.
Set to hit stores next month is an Air Jordan 5 Retro Low that’s been nicknamed “Peanut Butter and Jelly,” for obvious reasons. An early look at the upcoming release was shared on Instagram by @srt_blu717.
The low-top version of the classic sneaker features a rather plain white leather upper, but it’s the rest of the details where the story really begins to take shape.

The style’s midsole is colored in a peanut butter-like tan while its fighter jet-inspired teeth pattern is colored in a jelly-like red. The fruit coloring is carried over to the shoe’s signature translucent outsole, which has been colored in a grape-like purple.
Inside of the sneaker, Jordan Brand left no doubts about its inspiration as Jordan’s jersey number, 23, is printed in a jelly-like splatter. And the theme is also emphasized on the peanut butter-colored cardboard shoe box and tissue paper, which has purple and red jelly oozing out.
sAnd the Air Jordan 5 Low isn’t coming alone. Jordan Brand is also applying the sandwich theme to upcoming Air Jordan 1 Retro Low and Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid releases.
While it may not be a design for everyone, it’s not far-fetched to anticipate the Air Jordan 5 Retro Low “Peanut Butter and Jelly” catching on with its intended audience. The upcoming Air Jordan Retro release has a full colorway of “Pale Ivory/Fusion Red/Desert/Rush Fuchsia,” a SKU of HJ5994-106 and will likely release in grade school, preschool and toddler sizing. It’s expected to arrive at select Jordan Brand retailers and SNKRS in May for a retail price of $140.
