A Full Look at the Remastered Air Jordan 1 ’85 Collection Featuring Every Original Colorway

All 16 original Air Jordan 1 High styles from 1985 have been given historically accurate updates.

A complete set of true-to-original-form Air Jordan 1 Highs is on display at Nike’s Beaverton, Ore., headquarters, but there’s no telling which pairs will be released to the public, or when.

Video of the comprehensive collection was shared to Instagram by Jordan Brand lead color designer Arielle Pickett, who in their story tagged fellow Jordan Brand designers and developers Jason Grisby, Paul Lattin, Erin MacNamara, Leah Nagengast, Chad Sandy and Eric Sandy.

“The full set,” Pickett wrote. “We snapped.”

The pairs on display were indeed the full lineup of original Air Jordan 1 colorways released in 1985. Every original style was accounted for, including several that have yet to be released in the remastered Air Jordan 1 Retro High ’85 form and a handful of “Metallic” looks that have never been reissued at all.

The full lineup, in order of appearance in Pickett’s video, includes the Shadow, Storm Blue, Metallic Black, Black Toe, Metallic Red, Metallic Navy, Black/White, Natural Gray, Metallic Purple, Metallic Green, Metallic Burgundy, Metallic Orange, Chicago, UNC, Royal and Bred colorways.

Each of the pairs pictured has been given Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 1 Retro High ’85 reworking, a meticulously engineered update which resulted in the closest form the shoe has been to its original ’85 appearance and build. The concept was introduced in 2020 and featured a shape and materials that were an improvement on modern retros. This year, for the sneaker’s 40th anniversary, the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 was further refined with surgeon-like precision which even tweaked the texture of the midsole rubber to feel more like the original version.

While new colorways of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High ’85 variation, such as the Irregular Shadow look, are expected to be released soon, the future of other styles remains unclear. The UNC colorway was recently worn by Japanese designer and Jordan Brand partner Hiroshi Fujiwara, but there’s no indication yet that the pair will receive a public release.
