An obscure yet covetable Air Jordan 1 scheduled for a reissue this year is already arriving at retailers with little fanfare, which could make it an opportune time to pick the pair up.
Much like recent Nike releases such as Bo Jackson’s Air Trainer SC High and various Air Max 95 and Air Force 1, the Air Jordan 1 Mid SE “New Love” has been arriving at retailers without much advance notice. The mid-top Air Jordan 1 style was first released in 2007 and came packaged alongside the “Black Toe” colorway. Nicknamed the “Old Love New Love” pack, the duo of Air Jordan 1 Mids was unofficially nicknamed the “Beginning Moments Pack” by some collectors.

The concept for the “Old Love New Love” pack was to highlight Michael Jordan’s “old love” of basketball on the Chicago Bulls-colored “Black Toe” pair while nodding to the Michael Jordan Motorsports bike team, his “new love,” on the style pictured here. Jordan owned the AMA Superbike team from 2003 to 2013 and one of the group’s color schemes was the black and bumblebee-like yellow emulated on the Air Jordan 1 Mid.

The leather-and-nubuck pair features color blocking reminiscent of classic original Air Jordan 1s, but adds a maize eyelet and a translucent rubber outsole to the mix. Its Wings logo features a TPU jewel look instead of the traditional stamped emblem — a detail which was omitted on the sneaker’s first reissue in 2017.
For fans who have been waiting to add this pair to their collection, this retro is the most accurate version since the original two-pack release in ’07. Ahead of a scheduled rollout, the Air Jordan 1 Mid SE “New Love” is available now from retailers including Shiekh.
