One of the highlights of Jordan Brand’s pre-New York Fashion Week seasonal preview was the all-new Air Jordan 1 Element Low and ahead of the model’s official October release, it’s already arriving at select retailers.
Upgraded for the outdoors and unpredictable winter weather, the Air Jordan 1 Element Low takes inspiration from hiking shoes while retaining many of the traditional elements of Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker. The paneling and silhouette of the upper is visually similar to a standard Air Jordan 1 Low, but the Element variation is otherwise upgraded in nearly every aspect.
Its textile-based upper is lined with a Gore-Tex membrane for full waterproof functionality, while numerous reflective details ensure that even the black-based colorway will be visible in low-light conditions. Underfoot, the Air Jordan 1’s antiquated rubber midsole has been updated with a sculpted foam that’s intended to make the shoe more comfortable during everyday use.

An internal heel Air unit and external TPU heel counter are also used on the revamped model. But perhaps the biggest change comes on the outsole, which is equipped with a rugged off-road rubber that looks like it’s been pulled straight from Nike’s outdoors ACG line.
The Air Jordan 1 Element Low was previewed by the brand alongside its new RealTree and Mountainside collections, the Jordan Trunner LX, Jordan Trunner O/S and the Air Jordan Mule sneaker loafer.
With Black/Iron Gray/Dark Smoke Gray/Challenge Red (FV4227-002), Medium Olive/Medium Khaki/Safari/Sequoia/Spruce Fog/Total Crimson (FV4227-201) and Glacier Blue/Silver/Pale Blue/Light Armory Blue/Cobalt Tint/Photo Blue (FV4227-400) colorways set to officially introduce the new model in October, the black style has already begun popping up at select retailers.
The Air Jordan 1 Element Low is available now in black from DTLR for $205. A wider release will be available from jordan.com and select Jordan Brand retailers starting Oct. 1.
