The boot queen Mary J. Blige modeled a pair of glamorous slingback pumps from Amina Muaddi at the 2025 Angel Ball hosted by Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation in New York City on Monday.
Blige opted for Amina Muaddi’s Camelia slingback, which stands out with an ornate octagonal crystal embellishment on the vamp, adding an opulent flair to the set. She wore a semi-sheer black lace version of the shoe, which provided a subtly romantic material backdrop to the sparkling embellishment. The silhouette was simple and clean, with a sharp pointed toe and slender slingback strap wrapping around the ankle. A 3.5-inch stiletto heel with a subtle flair elevated the set. Styled by Jeremy Haynes for the occasion, Blige’s shoes aligned with her Tony Ward dress, a long-sleeve color-blocked gown featuring asymmetrical draping and crystal stones. A high-leg slit helped to showcase her slingbacks.
The celebrity-loved luxury label Amina Muaddi, launched by the eponymous designer in 2018, offers styles ranging from the Camelia to the Anok mule to the snakeskin Barbara boot. The Camelia isn’t the only style to showcase a crystal embellishment — Jordyn Woods modeled the Begum slingback featuring a sunburst crystal brooch on the vamp. The brand recently opened its first stand-alone store, located at 6 Avenue Montaigne in Paris in July.

While Blige might step out in a pump sometimes, the footwear style she’s most associated with is a statement boot. Take, for instance, the crystal-embellished Giuseppe Zanotti boots she wore on Saturday to perform at One Musicfest in Atlanta, or the pink woven thigh-high style from Bottega Veneta she donned for a halftime performance at a Knicks game in May.
