Lainey Wilson’s Grammy-nominated Song ‘Somewhere Over Laredo’ Lends Its Name to Her Bestselling Western Boot Style

The song was nominated for two Grammys.

Lainey Wilson earned three nominations for the 2026 Grammys, two of which are for her song “Somewhere Over Laredo.” This hit track also lends its name to the top-selling style at her new western boot brand, Golden West.

The country star, who has partnerships with Wrangler and The Jewelry Group, launched her own boot brand this year with industry veteran Michael Petry on board as creative director. The colorful floral style Somewhere Over Laredo, priced at $465, has proven to be a popular creation from the brand, and now it has an association with the Grammys to bolster its success.

The song was nominated for best country solo performance and best country song; Wilson is one of the songwriters, so she is recognized as part of the latter nomination as well. (Her third nomination is for “Trailblazer,” which received a nod for best country duo/group performance, with Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert also credited.)

FN interviewed Wilson about the new brand via email in September. It isn’t easy for Wilson to pick a favorite boot style — “That’s like asking me to choose a favorite song!” — but she did give a special shout-out to Somewhere Over Laredo.

“At the moment I’ve been reaching for Somewhere Over Laredo,” she said. “They just make me happy with embroidered wildflowers inspired by my childhood. They make a statement with any outfit and they’re so fun and comfortable to wear.”

Explaining how Western fashion relates to her identity as a musician and entertainer, Wilson said, “Western fashion is part of who I am and always has been. It’s second nature to me, on and off stage. There’s nothing more country than a broken-in pair of boots. I love putting my music into the brand, which is why you’ll see boots rooting back to some of my songs both in design inspiration and names.”

The Somewhere Over Laredo boots were on display, alongside other styles, at a New York City launch event for Golden West held on Oct. 10 ahead of Wilson’s show that day at Madison Square Garden.
