Hoka debuted a new silhouette during New York Fashion Week, revealing its Bondi Mary Jane style on the runway as part of Tanner Fletcher’s show on Monday.
Following the shoe’s runway debut, which was the first time the genderless label Tanner Fletcher displayed a modern sneaker on the runway, the Bondi Mary Jane is set for an Oct. 1 launch.
The hybrid shoe inspired by Hoka’s existing Bondi style offers a performance reinterpretation of the Mary Jane, aiming to offer customers style, comfort and support. Described by the brand as “a formal sneaker,” the shoe features three interchangeable lacing options, a leather upper, metal hardware detailing, mesh upper detailing and Hoka lace toggles.

The midsole of the Bondi Mary Jane has a custom sock liner and EVA midsole with a billowed effect. Meanwhile, the outsole has an extra-cushioned heel crash pad, an unsurprising feature for the athletic brand known for presenting max cushioning in its sneakers. Launching in two colorways, black and red, the shoes will retail for $170.
The Bondi Mary Jane was captured in campaign images shot by photographer Ryan McGinley. As described in an official release, “the Bondi Mary Jane campaign highlights the many ways this unconventional silhouette can be worn, celebrating rule-breakers, head-turners and those whose authentic selves are multifaceted, fluid and expressive. The imagery reflects the same ethos Tanner Fletcher champions, making the alignment between brand and designer feel both natural and undeniable.”
Hybrid sneakers have been all the rage lately, and this wouldn’t be the first Mary Jane hybrid to hit the market. Vibram’s V-Soul sneaker, for example, which is a FiveFingers glove shoe, was ranked among the top 10 hottest products in the world in the Q2 2025 Lyst Index — making an appearance for the second quarter in a row. On a similar note, ballet-inspired sneakers gained momentum this year, with brands ranging from Adidas to Louis Vuitton presenting versions of the dancer-ly yet athletic style. While many of these embodied the enduring slim-soled shoe trend, Hoka’s Bondi Mary Jane entry makes the case for maximal hybrids.
