Hannah Waddingham stayed on theme for the “Smurfs” premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday, joining a wave of attendees in shades of blue — though her version came with contrast stitching, raw hems and white crystal-accented slingback heels by Betzábe with a hint of sparkle.
The “Ted Lasso” star opted for Betzábe’s Eva Crystal slingback, a pointed-toe pump in white patent leather with a 65mm heel and a minimalist strap adorned with tiny crystal accents. The glossy finish and sculptural shape brought a touch of glamour to an outfit otherwise grounded in utility textures.

She paired the shoes with a denim maxi dress by Stella McCartney, which featured paneling, lace-trim and visible stitching. The silhouette featured a deep V neckline and an adjustable button-front slit, creating flexibility that fit both the blue carpet and the July heat. Lace details at the hem and neckline softened the dress’s structure, giving it a lived-in elegance that McCartney’s designs are known for.
The Betzábe label, founded by Guadalajara-born Betzábe González, is produced entirely in Italy by an all-women team. González previously described the brand as “modern, feminine and with a touch of sporty glam,” but emphasized that it’s about more than aesthetics. “I want that responsibility to be able to help young designers that are Latin as well, to help open doors for them,” she told Footwear News earlier this year.
Waddingham joins stars like Gabrielle Union and Elle Fanning in wearing the label, whose collections often incorporate nods to González’s Mexican heritage — including charro-inspired boots and bright color blocking. The Eva Crystal, though minimalist in color, reflects the same emphasis on detail and clarity that defines the brand’s core.
Waddingham, who voices the intergalactic evil wizard Jezebeth in “Smurfs,” was joined on the blue carpet by costars Nick Offerman and John Goodman. Rihanna — who voices Smurfette and contributed the new song “Friend of Mine” to the soundtrack — also attended, accompanied by her two sons, RZA and Riot.
