The Most Dramatic Shoes at the MTV VMAs 2025: Doja Cat’s Pleasers, Rebecca Black’s Furry Platforms and More

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are unfolding at UBS Arena in New York City on Sunday, welcoming a range of celebrities for a night of entertainment and awards — and that includes many who selected eye-catching footwear for the occasion.

Rebecca Black, for example, wore brown strappy sandals with fur adorning a tall platform. Doja Cat went for a platform look as well, showcasing custom yellow platforms from Pleaser Shoes to go with her Balmain look. Still more dramatic silhouettes could be seen on the red carpet, including edgy black boots. Rei Ami, for instance, opted for a pair with grommets embellishing belt-like straps which wrapped around the knee-high set.

Hosted by LL Cool J, this year’s show features performances from Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Doja Cat, Katseye and other artists, celebrating music’s biggest names and electrifying cultural moments worldwide.
