TOKYO — At a press conference on Friday, Uniqlo unveiled a newly expanded collection of clothing for kids and babies, starting with the current fall season. In response to customer demand, the fast-fashion brand has ramped up the collection by adding 50 percent more styles and making it available in 60 percent more stores.
The stores that will now be carrying kids’ and babies’ items are mostly smaller stores located outside of urban centers. Sales floors have also been redesigned, with dedicated sections for kids and babies, making it easier to shop the collection. The new kids floor at Uniqlo’s flagship store in Tokyo’s Ginza district features bright, multi-colored carpeting and clearly labeled display shelves.
The expanded offering for children and infants includes pint-sized takes on similar items that have brought Uniqlo success in its men’s and women’s ranges. These include fleece pullovers, jeans, printed sweatshirts, and down puffer jackets.
