MILAN — There’s no stopping the game of fashion musical chairs: Etro and its creative director Marco De Vincenzo have ended their collaboration after almost four years.
According to a brief statement released Thursday, the decision was reached by mutual agreement and “aligns with a new strategic phase for the brand.”
“Etro wishes to express its gratitude to Marco De Vincenzo for his dedication, professionalism, and creative contribution over the years, and extends its best wishes for his future projects,” said the statement. “The maison now looks to the next developments with confidence, continuing its journey of enhancing its lifestyle identity and creative heritage, in continuity with the innovation and the values that have always distinguished it.”
As reported, Etro has recently found new investors. L Catterton – which in July 2021 acquired a majority stake in the company – remains the majority shareholder, while the Turkish Rams Global; Mathias Facchini, who helms Swinger International and is the owner of the Genny brand, and SRI Group bought a minority stake owned by the Etro family in December 2025. The operation led to the exit of the founding family from the business.
To be sure, the Etro family already left their roles within the company shortly after the L Catterton acquisition. The members previously involved included siblings Veronica, who was the creative director for the women’s collections; Kean, men’s creative director; Ippolito, who oversaw strategic management, and Jacopo, who was in charge of the home line.

De Vincenzo joined the Italian company in 2022, when he was named creative director overseeing women’s and men’s wear and the home category, too.
His first designs bowed for spring 2023 in September 2022 during Milan Women’s Fashion Week. Ever since, he looked to balance his own handwriting with the brand’s escapist ethos and rich textile heritage tracing back to 1968. His contribution was particularly significant on the accessories front, a category he helped rev up thanks to his longtime expertise in leather goods honed as a consultant for Fendi.
A former winner of the Vogue Italia “Who Is on Next?” talent search, De Vincenzo has always had an eye for bold colors, labor-intensive clothes, optical effects, rich fabrics and sophisticated embellishments, as expressed by his former, namesake brand launched in 2009. The label caught the attention of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, which struck a joint venture with the Rome-based designer in 2014. In April 2021, De Vincenzo bought back his brand from LVMH and his other partner MMGP Srl.
As for Etro, the brand founded in Milan by Gerolamo Etro is widely known for its paisley motif and bold patterns inspired by travel. First established as a textile firm, it subsequently expanded into women’s and menswear and other products.
L Catterton invested in Etro with the aim of growing the Italian fashion brand’s customer base, expanding into new categories, enhancing its digital presence and driving global expansion, with a focus on the opportunities offered by Asia. Financial sources close to the operation at the time pegged the value of the deal at 500 million euros for a 60 percent stake.
Shortly after the arrival of L Catterton in 2021, Fabrizio Cardinali was named chief executive officer of the company. Since his arrival at Etro from Dolce&Gabbana, Cardinali has inked licenses for eyewear with Safilo; for fragrances and home scent collections with Coty Inc., the first beauty license for the Italian house, and for Etro Kids with manufacturing specialist Simonetta.
Etro has a retail network of more than 160 stores in over 20 countries but its lifestyle proposition is poised to be a key focus as much as the fashion one in the future. It is understood that Rams Global, which is a major real estate firm, is keen to further develop the Etro Residences, leveraging the brand’s home collection, a cornerstone and significant business for the label.
Rams Global is no stranger to the brand. In October last year, Cardinali unveiled Etro’s first residential project in a partnership with the firm to design the interiors of the Tower Rams Beyond in Istanbul. It was followed by another residential project in Phuket, by Amal Development in collaboration with The One Atelier.
