Lacoste’s spring 2008 show Sept. 8 coincides with its upcoming 75th anniversary and, as such, the runway lineup will include pieces from a special anniversary collection.
As the iconic French brand turns 75 in 2008, it is offering a limited edition capsule collection to fete the occasion.
The collection is made up of six women’s pieces (including a jacket, shirt, polo and knits), six men’s pieces, four bags, two pairs of sunglasses in three colors, one watch and four pairs of shoes.
Inspired by “the sport chic and relaxed elegance style of the Thirties reflecting the true heritage of the Lacoste legend,” according to a Lacoste spokeswoman, the line uses a “graphic and refined color palette: Chinchilla [subtle black] and Falaise [off-white], solid-toned pieces with contrasted piping and a tone-on-tone original embroidered crocodile…inspired by the very first crocodile worn by René Lacoste on his blazer.”
With apparel wholesaling from $39 to $136, the anniversary collection will be sold at retail boutiques, national specialty stores and online.
