Menswear Designer of the Year
Italo Zucchelli, who took over men’s wear for Calvin Klein Collection almost seven years ago, could be the first designer to win in this category for an inherited label — but his trademark experimentation with textiles and modernized take on classic sportswear are entirely his own. For spring, he astonished with shocking fluorescents. For fall, he bonded foam to fabric, reinventing the puffer with flat surfaces. After 11 shows in Milan, Zucchelli showed in New York in February, just to switch things up. “What I do is a celebration of American sportswear at the luxury level,” he says. “I wanted to represent the energy of this amazing city.”
