MTV VMAs 2024 Red Carpet Arrivals Photos, Live Updates

The MTV Video Music Awards have been a platform for artists to showcase not only their musical talents but also their personal sense of style since 1984. The show, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the 2024 VMAs, has given the public some of the most memorable red carpet moments in history, like Lady Gaga’s 2010 red carpet dress, made entirely from raw beef. Lil’ Kim made headlines over a decade before Gaga in 1999 with her risqué ensemble, a purple sequined jumpsuit and a daring pasty.

In more recent years, artists have continued to use the VMA red carpet as an opportunity to explore different aesthetics. Taylor Swift has consistently used the awards show as an opportunity to style herself in line with her current musical era. Others, like Doja Cat, have opted to explore avant-garde trends, like she did with last year’s naked dress trend in her lacy cobweb-inspired dress.

The 2024 MTV VMAs, hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, will take place at the UBS Arena in New York City. The event will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET on MTV and simulcast across several Paramount networks, including BET and VH1. The red carpet will feature a live pre-show stream on YouTube starting at 6 p.m ET, hosted by Dometi Pongo, Kevan Kenney and Nessa, with a performance by LE SSERAFIM.

Performers for the evening include Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, LISA, Rauw Alejandro, Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter. Katy Perry, the recipient of this year’s Vanguard award, will perform a medley of her songs.

Taylor Swift leads with 12 nominations, followed by Post Malone with 11. Eminem has eight, while Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA each have seven.
