NEW YORK — The Fashion Group International, which will honor recipients with its annual Rising Star Award at a Jan. 26 luncheon, has completed the list of nominees.
The ninth edition of the awards — to be presented at the New York Hilton — will be given for women’s ready-to-wear, retail, accessories, jewelry, beauty, men’s rtw and home and interior design. The finalists were determined by Fashion Group members and and a special industry panel.
The nominees in the women’s rtw category are Catherine Swanson of Cat Swanson; Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Ruffian; Laura Poretzky of Abaeté Inc.; Matthew Earnest; Philip Lim; Zaldy’s Zaldy Goco, and Colleen Queen of Colleen Queen Couture Inc.
In retail, finalists are Dylan Lauren of Dylan’s Candy Bar; Angelique M. Graux and Susan Bartholomew of Zoomies; Inga Davidsson of Area iD; Hiroshi Uemura of Utowa, and Susan and Kat Hable of Hable Construction.
In accessories, the nominees are Michael Spaulding and George Gublo of Gunmetal; Doug Perlman of Woozie Wear; Darby Scott; Franklin Elman; Lesley Armstrong and Anke Fox of Armstrong Fox Textiles, and Stephanie Fox. Fine jewelry nominees are Roberto Faraone Mennella and Amedeo Scognamiglio of Faraone Mennella, Janet Mavec of J. Mavec & Co., Amrita Singh and Jojo Designs’ Jennifer McCurry.
In beauty, the fragrance corporate nominees are Clement Gavarry of International Flavors & Fragrances; Meryl Truffelman of Estée Lauder; Stephen Nilsen of Quest International Fragrances, and Nancy Tarantola of Bourjois. Fragrance entrepreneur nominees are Sarah Kugelman of Skyn Iceland, Lulu Guinness; Laurice Rahme of Bond No. 9, New York; Ulrich Lang of Ulrich Lang NY Fragrances, and Claudie and Rino Jasper of Beauty ID.
In men’s rtw, the finalists are Thom Browne; Greg Lagola; Romain Kapadia, and Marko Kalfa and Carlos Campos of Guido.
Home and interior design rounds out the group with Ernest de la Torre of De la Torre Design Studio; Christina Sullivan of Tocar, and Elaine Griffin of Elaine Griffin Interior Design.
Presenters for awards, which are being sponsored by Target and Solstiss Bucol, include Carlos Falchi for accessories, Robert Lee Morris for jewelry, Jonathan Adler for home and interior and In Style’s Amy Synnott for beauty. The finalists will be toasted tonight with a cocktail party at Sapa.
