For the 10th installment of SCADstyle, the Savannah College of Art and Design has recruited Joseph Altuzarra, FEED’s Lauren Bush Lauren and Warby Parker’s Neil Blumenthal to headline some of the five days of festivities.
More than 25 international style leaders have signed on for the various lectures, panel discussions and one-on-one conversations. Set to run April 12 to 16, this year’s event will also include satellite programs in Atlanta and Hong Kong.
Events will include Altuzarra’s “Guide to Deconstructing the Power Suit” with Style.com’s Nicole Phelps; Lauren discussing “Cultivating a Stylish, Philanthropic Business” with Elle’s Anne Slowey, and author Dana Thomas talking about her book “Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.”
Other sessions include “Red Carpet Style: Marketing Design in a Culture of Celebrity,” with Edie Parker’s Brett Heyman, and jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth and Juan Carlos Obando talking about the ins and outs of navigating the Hollywood crowd with New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman.

“How to Self-Promote Your Brand Through Visual Media” will feature Wren’s Melissa Coker, fashion blogger Meagan Cignoli and jewelry designer Jennifer Fisher. Other Savannah participants will include Loeffler Randall’s Jessie Randall, Clare V’s Clare Vivier and Eva Fehren’s Eva Zuckerman, who will talk accessories with W’s Rickie de Sole. Tibi founder Amy Smilovic and designer Valentina Kova will tackle brand-building with SCAD’s Michael Fink.
Tapping into this spring’s denim trend, another panel, “Genius Jeans: The Beautiful Business of Denim,” will be led by Cone Denim’s Kara Nicholas, Ayr’s Jac Cameron and 3×1’s Scott Morrison with Jean Stories’ Jane Herman Bishop and Florence Kane moderating. Blumenthal of Warby Parker will look at how social impact influenced his brand and Steven Alan will dissect his retail model for long-term success.
Extending beyond fashion, SCADstyle will also touch upon architecture through such talks as one by OMA partner Jason Long.
