With curvaceous lines and delicate embellishments, each piece at Roger Vivier’s Rendez Vous collection was a work of art, with its own special personality. A dark chocolate shagreen open-toe sandal with black straw marquetry detailing on its heel channeled understated luxury, while showier acts included the “Blue Angel,” a style adorned with a dramatic spray of blue and yellow feathers that, according to creative director Bruno Frisoni, mimicked “fluttering eyelashes.” (This season, he said he mused about aristo-bohemian eccentrics like Oscar Wilde to get his imagination flowing.) Tall boots added a new element to the limited edition collection, including a grand black molded riding boot and a lovely folkloric model in gray crocodile suede, trimmed with colored woven leather and black raccoon. Standouts in the bootie camp included a pair decorated with strategically placed lace meant to evoke mist.
