Rimowa celebrated the opening of their newest store, on Mercer Street in SoHo, with a cocktail party on Thursday evening. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by the well-worn, stickered luggage of Spike Lee, Maggie Rogers, Martha Stewart and more; once downstairs, where Paul Sevigny was DJing records and a martini bar had drinks flowing, people settled in, catching up post-fashion month.
Lee and his son, Jackson Lee, worked with Rimowa to create New York City-themed stickers.

“It’s New York!” Lee said of why he wanted to work with the company. “New York, but worldwide though — they gave me the opportunity to make this thing, and rep New York.”
“It was really seamless, working with Rimowa; they’re really great, very flexible and really easy to work with,” Jackson added. “This one was a pretty simple project. I know how to keep his attention focused,” he said of working with his dad.
The stickers, which were handed out to guests, represent New York neighborhoods from Harlem and Greenwich Village to SoHo and Queens.
“The theme was New York, and he’s such a New York expert,” Jackson said of his father. “He had a lot of references to pull from.”
Both father and son use the classic titanium Rimowa roller, though Jackson used to use a Knicks orange suitcase that was a hand-me-down from his dad. Speaking of his dad’s beloved team, “their first preseason game is tonight,” Jackson said. “He said this is the year. But he says that every year. But it feels good.”
