MUCHOS MIAMI: With the Hamptons season just around the corner, the bold-faced and the beautiful have two opportunities to work on their natural tans in South Beach — at rival hotels, natch.
Paul Kanavos and his wife, Dayssi, and Alfredo and Diana Lowenstein are throwing a weekend-long jaunt (“two dreamy days” and “three unforgettable nights,” reads the invitation) at their Ritz Carlton South Beach property, starting Friday. Guests — including, rumor has it, a few celebrities — will break out their ritziest resortwear for Friday night’s benefit for the Miami Children’s Chorus. Saturday’s Miami Spice-themed evening will be cohosted by Rena Sindi and Sunday will feature an oceanside send-off brunch. Don’t be surprised to run into Bai Ling, Serena Boardman, Elizabeth Kieselstein-Cord, Alex Kramer, Jackie Astier, John Varvatos, Tiffany Dubin or Susan Fales-Hill at the Jet Blue terminal.
The following weekend, you might see GQ editor in chief Jim Nelson in Havaianas getting down with Karolina Kurkova at a party at Andre Balazs’ The Raleigh to celebrate the magazine’s May “Beach Issue” and Bruce Weber’s first portfolio for GQ since the Eighties.
