Centric Software of San Jose, Calif., is taking a different approach to crafting product lifecycle management software for fashion firms.
Instead of an application or suite that manages everything from design to delivery, the company is starting with tech packs, those indispensable documents containing every possible specification that brands send to factories.
Another unique aspect of the software, called Tech Packs, which started shipping in September, is that instead of using individual spreadsheets or even one shared database, it relies on the company’s data mining software to link to information scattered throughout a company, even if it lives on an individual’s desktop computer.
The potential benefit is reduced implementation time: anywhere from two weeks to two months, said Centric.
Several apparel companies are already using Tech Packs, including Artsana SpA, the Italian conglomerate that makes toys and children’s clothing.
