LOS ANGELES — Cadeau, an upscale maternity line, has given birth to Cadeau Black Label, a ready-to-wear collection for nonexpectant women.
The line launched at the D&A show here this month and wholesales from $100 to $700. It features pieces such as classic tweed and flannel suiting with bohemian touches like beading and embroidery.
“Stores like Barneys New York have been asking us if we could do ready-to-wear private label,” said Emilia Fabricant, designer of the line and owner of the Cadeau stores here and in New York. Fabricant, who launched Procreation, Barneys’ private label maternity line in 1999, not only continues to wholesale the line to Barneys but has been designing for its private label rtw as well. She added that high-end specialty stores like Scoop, Fred Segal Flair and Ron Herman bought the line at D&A.
