DALLAS — The luxury Highland Park Village shopping center here, owned by the Henry S. Miller family since 1976, was sold for an estimated $160 million Thursday to business executive Ray Washburne.
Washburne, who is chief executive officer of Charter Holdings, a Dallas real estate company, and also has interests in restaurants, said he was “ready to invest in the infrastructure” of the open-air center.
“We will continue with the fashion-forward nature of the center,” Washburne said. “We just signed a lease with Vince, and we will have some high-profile retailers to announce this summer that will have their only Dallas stores here.”
Highland Park Village is considered to be the second-oldest U.S. shopping center and has been designated as a national historic landmark. It comprises 200,000 square feet of retail space with 46,200 square feet of offices. The quirky mix places Hermès and Harry Winston steps from a Tom Thumb supermarket. Tenants of the Mediterranean-style venue also include retailers such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera and Chanel.
