STEPPING UP: Veteran dealmaker David Shiffman has been promoted to head of investment banking at Solomon Partners.
He will oversee the firm’s mergers and acquisitions and capital advisory groups and work closely with chief executive officer Marc Cooper to recruit new partners, develop new business and drive client engagement.
“David is an exceptional leader and critical contributor to our culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous learning,” Cooper said. “This appointment bolsters our strategy to scale and elevate how we engage with clients firm-wide.”
Solomon, which is an independently operated affiliate of Natixis, has a long history in retail and fashion deals.

Shiffman, who joined the company in 2012 after stints at Goldman Sachs and Miller Buckfire, has worked with Brooks Brothers Group Inc., Chico’s FAS Inc., the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., Flight Club New York Ltd., J.Crew Group, Perry Ellis International, Under Armour Inc., V.F. Corp. and many more.
His experience stretches from go-private transactions to shareholder activism to raid defense and more.

Jeff Derman, who’s been with Solomon since 2009, has been promoted to co-head of the consumer retail group alongside Shiffman.
Derman, another Goldman Sachs veteran, has more than 25 years experience with both public and private deals.
Additionally, Peter Diamond and Brandon Yoshimura, who also work in the consumer retail group, were named managing directors.
