BURBERRY IN LOVE: Love, the biannual Condé Nast U.K. title edited by Katie Grand, lands on newsstands Feb. 6 and features a host of new faces — and the first preview of Burberry’s February 2017 collection. Pieces from the new collection, which was inspired by the British artist and sculptor Henry Moore, appear on five of the issue’s eight covers, all of which were shot by Kendall Jenner.
Inside, Christopher Bailey said Moore had long been one of his inspirations, and he and the team wanted to capture the way the artist played with “form, texture and sculptural detail in a way that we haven’t before.” The collection, Burberry’s second coed, see-now-buy-now effort, references Moore’s curvaceous sculptures as well as the creative process behind them, “which in so many ways is as inspiring as the works themselves,” according to Burberry’s chief creative and chief executive officer.
Grand said she previewed the Burberry collection and was “blown away by how cool it was and how perfect it was for Love, especially with Panos [Yiapanis] styling, as he loves a bit of romance. Christopher has just been the dream.” Burberry will unveil its February lineup on Feb. 20 during London Fashion Week.

Known as The Fans Issue, the spring-summer 2017 edition of Love also features new — and known — faces that surfaced after Grand and Jenner held a casting call for people with a “passionate voice” and a “dynamic attitude.”
Grand, who is among the top candidates to take Alexandra Shulman’s place as editor of British Vogue, said in her editor’s letter that Love had been “looking for people who felt they had something to say. They could be unknown or famous, they could be on Instagram or not — just as long as they had some kind of message or talent they needed to get out there.” More than 100,000 students, actors, musicians, artists and models responded to the call, and Love whittled them down to the 25 who appear in the issue.
Some of them made the cover: Arianna Singh-Hicks, Belle Smith and Sienna Miller are all pictured wearing Burberry white cotton poplin and lace dresses with broderie anglaise trim, while Destiny Anderson is shown in a long heritage trench coat from the brand, and Kaia Gerber wears a dark tailored jacket by Burberry men’s wear. Other cover models wear looks from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, and Marc Jacobs.
The 72-page story, #LoveMe17, that resulted from the call was shot by Jenner in the Mojave desert with actresses including Sienna Miller, Gwendoline Christie and Hailee Steinfeld. Gerber, the model and daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, also features, as does the young baseball star Mo’ne Davis; filmmaker Isold Halldorudottir; streetwear designer Felix Spooner, and the artist Christina Vincent.
The issue is dedicated to Grand’s friend Richard Nicoll, who died aged 39 in October, with a tribute by fellow designer Jonathan Saunders. The edition also includes Giles Deacon talking about an upcoming book that documents the first 13 years of his label; a shoot and interview with Lauren Hutton, and a list of Donatella Versace’s favorite people and things: including Zayn Malik, London and Angelina Jolie.
Love said it saw a 7 percent uptick in advertising volume year-on-year, while the web site recorded a more than 200 percent rise in unique users in the July to December period, according to Google analytics.
