STAR POWER
Lauren Conrad, who has segued from MTV’s “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” and “The Hills” to fashion, will be at Project to present the pre-spring collection of Paper Crown. Unlike her brand, LC Lauren Conrad, that’s exclusive to Kohl’s, Paper Crown is Conrad’s bid to enter department stores and upscale boutiques with pieces that look like they could be worn by casual California girls when they are dressing up a bit. Nordstrom, Planet Blue and Ron Herman are among the retailers that have picked it up so far.
Meanwhile, Kellan Lutz, better known as Emmett Cullen in the “Twilight” movies, will be on hand to promote his clothing line Abbot + Main, which started for the fall in partnership with Dylan George, a Los Angeles-based premium jeans specialist. Dylan George will sponsor the official Project party on Aug. 23.

RUNWAY READY
Glitter Gulch is getting its own project runway — literally. Collaborating with eBay and Nolcha, a promotional company specializing in independent fashion designers and retailers, Project will build a runway in its town square for a series of fashion shows featuring as many as 25 women’s clothing and accessories brands.
Andrea Linett, a former editor of Lucky, Harper’s Bazaar and Sassy magazines and now creative director for eBay Fashion, will oversee the direction for the three shows on Aug. 23.
Participating labels include London’s Twenty8Twelve, Denmark’s Won Hundred, Shakuhachi from Australia, South Korea’s Kai-Aakmann, Los Angeles’ Current/Elliott, and Adam and Alexis Bittar, which are both first-time exhibitors from New York.
The event takes place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Project Women’s Town Square on Aug. 23 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m..

BLOGGER BEAT
Blogger Marcus Troy is gathering 11 of his Web peers to open Project’s doors to consumers. Besides sending their photos and missives to the Web, the bloggers also will post coverage of the trade-only event in their own dedicated station at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Their outlooks will be eclectic, as the bloggers’ specializations are widely varied — from emerging culture covered by Hearty Magazine and jeans reviewed by the Denim Guy, to personal style blogger Jazzi McG and street style snapper William Yan.
Other bloggers include High Snobette, Nitrolicious, High Snobiety, Por Homme, Selectism, Denim Therapy and the Madbury Club.
“We allow the consumer to see the world of fashion from a different viewpoint,” said Andrew Pollard, president of Project. “It’s like going to a restaurant today and you the see the kitchen. You see how the food is prepared. It’s not different how we do it here.”
