There are changes in store for the Las Vegas trade shows starting next year.
Liberty Fairs will be leaving its longtime home at the Sands Expo Center after the August edition, slated for Aug. 13 to 15, and will relocate to another venue in the city.
“It’s absolutely not true that we’re leaving Las Vegas,” said Sharifa Cudjoe, cofounder of the five-year-old show that she launched with Sam Ben-Avraham.
“Liberty will be showing in Vegas for years to come,” she stressed. She said Liberty is negotiating for an alternate venue now and is not yet prepared to provide further details.
In August, Liberty will focus on men’s and dual-gender brands at its show. Capsule, which Liberty purchased in April, has been converted to strictly a women’s show and will hold its next edition in New York from Sept. 15 to 17 at Pier 94 in Manhattan. Liberty will hold its next show July 23 to 25 at Pier 94 in New York.

Liberty relocating in Vegas will also impact the other trade shows that call the Sands Expo home. Agenda, the streetwear-skewed fair, has partnered with Liberty for several years. Cudjoe said the partnership is continuing and she did not know whether the show planned to remain in Vegas. Its primary show is in Long Beach, Calif.

In August, the PGA Show that is dedicated to the golf industry, also shows alongside Liberty and Agenda at the Sands. Its larger show is in Orlando, Fla., in January.
PGA officials could not be reached in the run up to the Fourth of July holiday to see if the summer edition of the show will remain at the Sands.
Tom Nastos, president of ready-to-wear for UBM Fashion, which owns Project as well as Coterie, WWDMAGIC, FN Platform and all the other shows under that umbrella, said he would welcome any exhibitors who would want to join the company’s roster in Las Vegas.
Project offers men’s and women’s wear at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and women’s and footwear brands at the Las Vegas Convention Center twice a year.
“We have a marketplace that could accommodate all these different neighborhoods. We are determined to give everybody a community feeling and will work with everyone looking for a solution,” he said.
