Philippe Paul Camille Bertrand, who had a long career in trend forecasting, died July 7 at Epworth Richmond Hospital, in Richmond, Victoria, Australia. He was 53.
Bertrand had been battling renal cell carcinoma for more than a year, according to family.
Born in Lyon, France, Bertrand moved to New York at the age of 20 and started to work for the trend-forecasting business Here and There.
After several years of working in the Garment District, Bertrand founded his own retail trend-forecasting company, Fashion Dossier, which he operated here as president from 1987 to 2004. During this time, he had also been a featured guest speaker at many international trade shows and seminars.
Bertrand was popular and well liked among his clients on Seventh Avenue. When he used to give a slideshow presentation he would receive a standing ovation, noted his ex-wife, Pascale Henault-Bertrand.

In 2004, he went back to France to pursue another endeavor, a lifelong dream of becoming a chef, by taking over the restaurant La Mere Brazier.
Four years later, Bertrand went back to fashion, to work with his ex-wife and best friend, as marketing director at her forecasting company, Woolworks International.
In 2011, Bertrand was offered a new opportunity and moved to Australia to become trend and forecast design manager for Target Australia.
Bertrand is also survived by his father, Robert Bertrand, a daughter, Aggie Bertrand, and partner, Luke Peters.
