JackThreads has hired Joseph Dos Santos as vice president, head of production.
Dos Santos will be responsible for ensuring there’s a heightened level of quality control for the men’s apparel and accessories retailer, which recently launched Try Outs, a service that lets men order as many pieces as they want to try on at home and only pay for what they keep.
Dos Santos was most recently the head of production at British Heritage Brands Inc. and Music Entertainment Sports Holdings, a subsidiary of Li & Fung Ltd. Prior to that he served as the director of production at The Gap, where he oversaw the New York and San Francisco offices and worked directly with Tony Kretten, JackThread’s creative director, on the introduction of the Red collection.
“Joe is obsessed with quality and construction,” said Kretten. “He notices subtle differences in washes and fabric weight that mean a world of difference for our guy. Joe’s relationships are going to open the doors to the best factories and mills across the world.”

Thrillist, a men’s lifestyle site, acquired JackThreads in 2010 when it was a flash-sale e-commerce site. The retailer, which split from Thrillist in 2015, moved away from the flash-sale format and started focusing on selling full-priced clothes from brands including Vans, Steven Alan and Rag & Bone, along with its own private label.
“JackThreads is the future of retail. They move at a speed that traditional retailers just can’t keep up with. But beyond moving quickly, they have their finger on the pulse of what the next generation of guys is looking for from their favorite brands,” said Dos Santos. “JackThreads is always looking to break new ground and above all, is focused on building the new way to shop. I’m looking forward to bringing our shared vision to life.”
