PARIS — Carrefour SA said Thursday it was appointing Pierre-Jean Sivignon as chief financial officer, replacing Pierre Bouchut, effective Sept. 1.
Rumors of Bouchut’s impending replacement had started to circulate immediately after the collapse last month of Carrefour’s planned merger with leading Brazilian retailer Companhia Brasileira de Distribuição.
Sivignon joins the French retailer after six years in Amsterdam as cfo, executive vice president and board member of Royal Philips Electronics. “His financial expertise, international experience of over 30 years and his leadership skills will be strong assets to continue the transformation of Carrefour,” the company stated.
Bouchut has been appointed executive director, growth markets, taking over from Thierry Garnier. He retains responsibility for Carrefour’s financial services arm, Carrefour Bank. Bouchut will work alongside Sivignon for two months before taking on his new role on Nov. 1, Carrefour said.
