NEW YORK — Graff is getting larger digs.
The London-based diamond jewelry company is marking its fifth anniversary in the U.S. this month with the opening of a 12,000-square-foot headquarters here at 46 East 61st Street, the town house formerly occupied by apparel and accessories firm Loro Piana. Graff will move in during the middle of next month.
“It will be great to have all the offices under one roof,” said Henri Barguirdjian, president and chief executive officer of Graff in America.
Graff’s different departments are now divided, with most at 589 Fifth Avenue. The new space will house the marketing, accounting, sales and executive offices, along with a jewelry workshop for repairs and some custom work.
Barguirdjian said Graff has registered a 30 percent rise in sales each year the firm has been in the U.S. Though he would not reveal sales figures, he said the average purchase is about $200,000. In addition to the company’s New York, Las Vegas, Chicago and Palm Beach, Fla., boutiques, Graff is working on a 1,200-square-foot store on Collins Avenue in Bal Harbour, Fla., set to open in July. A 2,500-square-foot unit in Beverly Hills, Calif., is to bow in October.
Barguirdjian said he would like to open many more stores, but the firm is limited by the supply of large diamonds the company mines and cuts in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“We want to remain exclusive and are dealing in really rare special icons,” Barguirdjian said.
