LONDON — European stock markets made small gains in midmorning trading on Monday, with the DAX in Frankfurt leading the way.
The German market was up 0.6 percent to 11,821.75, followed by the FTSE MIB in Milan, 0.2 percent to 19,039.03. The CAC 40 in Paris climbed 0.1 percent to 4,873.80, while the FTSE 100 in London was flat at 7,299.10.
The euro traded at $1.06, while the pound fetched $1.24 and the Swiss franc equaled $1 at 11:15 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with Unilever falling 5.6 percent to 41.94 euros after Kraft Heinz pulled its $143 billion bid to acquire the Anglo-Dutch food-to-personal care to beauty giant.
Online retailer Koovs was down 2 percent to 0.44 pounds, while Tod’s SpA fell 1.2 percent to 65.60 euros.
Among the morning’s biggest risers were Jimmy Choo, up 2.2 percent to 1.60 pounds; Italia Independent Group, 2.1 percent to 4.30 euros, and Joules Group, 1.5 percent to 2.25 pounds.
