Asian indices finished the day mixed in their last day of trade before the Chinese New Year holiday next week.
Taking the lead from Wall Street’s declines, the Shanghai SSE slipped 0.6 percent to end at 2,764 while Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 fell 1.3 percent to end at 16,820. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng bucked the trend, inching up 0.6 percent to finish at 19,288.
Fast Retailing ended down 2.3 percent to finish at 34,590 yen. Isetan Mitsukoshi fell 4.6 percent to end at 1,416 yen. Shiseido fell 1.5 percent to end at 2,333 yen. Esprit fell 1.8 percent to finish at 7.69 Hong Kong dollars.
Chow Tai Fook fared better, rising 2 percent to finish at 4.69 Hong Kong dollars. Prada rose 2.8 percent to end at 23.75 Hong Kong dollars.
