LONDON — European markets were up in morning trading on Wednesday.
The DAX in Frankfurt rose 1.3 percent to 10,183.38, while FTSE MIB in Milan advanced 1 percent to 18,088.47. The CAC 40 in Paris gained 0.9 percent to 4,472.85, and the FTSE 100 in London was up 0.3 percent to 6,258.11.
The euro traded at $1.11, while the pound fetched $1.45 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.00 at 1:00 p.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Bonmarché Holdings, 2.3 percent to 1.22 pounds; Kering, 1.2 percent to 146.10 euros, and Ted Baker, 0.7 percent to 24.62 pounds.
Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Marks & Spencer, 8 percent to 4.09 pounds. The retailer’s full-year profits fell 16 percent to 404.4 million pounds on the back of a modest revenue uptick and struggling home and clothing sales.
