Since the 1960s and naming its TAG Heuer Carrera watches after the Carrera Panamericana road, TAG Heuer has been linked to the fast-paced world of motorsports for generations. The Swiss luxury watchmaker has also boasted legendary racers Steve McQueen and Ayrton Senna as its heritage ambassadors.
To commemorate Senna’s tragic passing 30 years ago at the San Marino Grand Prix, TAG Heuer has collaborated with the Senna Brand to launch a new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Senna timepiece to honor the Brazilian’s legacy as a fearless, victorious and charismatic Formula 1 driver.
The exclusive watch embodies the racer’s quest for excellence and performance — Senna is portrayed in a new fictional Netflix series titled “Senna,” featuring TAG Heuer ambassador Gabriel Leone as Senna and featuring heritage watches such as the TAG Heuer Senna S/EL Link Chronograph S25.706C.
The legacy behind Senna and TAG Heuer began in 1988, with the race driver being a long-standing TAG Heuer ambassador and breaking Formula 1 records. With only 500 watches made in this collaboration, TAG Heuer pays homage to Senna’s influence on the sport. The watches nod to the Brazilian’s prowess with a tachymeter scale reaching 400 kilometers per hour to memorialize the precision and speed that Senna relentlessly pursued.
