“It’s too cute,” said Joey King, standing before a rack of clothes at the Miu Miu 57th Street boutique in Manhattan. The collection before her was marked with tags with her name on it, and had been selected by King with the help of her stylist, Jared Eng, as part of her curation of the brand’s latest in store offering. Her Miu Miu selections were celebrated Monday evening with a store party, and prior to guests’ arrivals, King was walking through the rack.
“I picked too many things [at first],” she said of the process. “I didn’t want it to feel like everything went together, but I wanted there to be a little bit of a through line, because I wanted it to feel like you could really mix any purse with any outfit and put any dress with any sweater and any handkerchief and have it feel like it was all going to work, even though the textures and colors are all very different.”

Highlights for the actress included the denim pieces she chose.
“I’m always so afraid of denim because going jean shopping is the worst thing I’ve ever imagined in my whole f–king life,” she said. “But the denim here is so cute and comfortable and flattering. So it made that seem approachable.”
Other favorites for King were the green pieces, which is her “new favorite vibe.”
“I dyed my hair red last year for work and I decided to keep it because I love it so much,” she said. “And I’m noticing that forest green, any kind of green really, brings out the hair in a way that I feel very confident in.”
The greens in the collection included a suede pencil skirt that King found especially flattering.
“I’m like a bit shorter and I carry most of my weight in my legs, and so I find skirts that cut me off at the calf to be something I try to avoid normally. But for some reason the way Miu Miu makes their skirts are really flattering on me,” she said. “And so I picked it because I was really surprised by how confident it made me feel in my body in an area that I usually don’t like.”
King’s selections had her daydreaming about outfit planning for the summer, including apron tops with plenty of side boob — “I love side boob. And I don’t think enough clothing gives us side boob” — and pieces for friends’ weddings.
“I’m thinking about welcome parties, pool parties,” she said. “Miu Miu, it’s not going to go out of style. You’re going to have these pieces and work them in with the rest of your closet.”
