US Denim Mills and House of Denim Deepen Partnership with Women-Driven Capsule Collection: ROOTS Chapter 3

partnership

When creativity crosses borders, it can reshape an entire craft. That’s the premise behind the ongoing ROOTS Chapter 3 collaboration between Pakistan’s US Denim Mills and Amsterdam-based nonprofit House of Denim.

ROOTS Chapter 3 is a collaborative project between House of Denim and US Denim that explores the intersection of culture, craftsmanship and connection through denim. Its third chapter brings women to the forefront, led by Mariette Hoitink, co-founder of House of Denim. She’s also the head of the organization’s Talent Incubator program, a diversity and inclusion talent development program for young people aged 16 to 17e with a passion for denim.

Representing US Denim, Maryam Amin, creative head of research and development at the denim mill, traveled from Lahore, Pakistan to Amsterdam to join an all-women design team that included Nikki Kolk, Eva Immerzeel, Daphne Zent and Trinity Williams. The project represents a blend of Dutch and Pakistani cultures—bringing together two perspectives through a shared appreciation for denim and craftsmanship.

“Collaborating with the women at House of Denim felt effortless,” Amin said. “We understood each other creatively. [This installment] showed me how our skills and perspectives fit together, and how denim connects us in ways that go beyond fashion.”

The capsule centers fabrics from roots collection that are natural and plastic free —HeirRoot, RootCraft, EarthRoot and RootRush—each a study in texture, comfort and consciousness. HeirRoot blends 58 percent regenerative cotton and 42 percent Tencel for a soft, fluid drape, while RootCraft is composed of 100 percent regenerative cotton for a pure, natural feel. EarthRoot, on the other hand, combines regenerative cottona and linen to enhance breathability, while RootRush mixes regenerative cotton and hemp for added strength and structure.

Traditional Pakistani and Dutch motifs were creatively fused through laser and embroidery techniques, blending cultural heritage from both regions into modern, expressive design elements.

“ROOTS Chapter 3 is a tribute to textile itself,” said Turk. “It’s about weaving together different perspectives to create something new—a unique identity [and] cloth.”

The project gave emerging designers from the Talent Incubator hands-on experience with global-scale production and sustainable innovation. “ROOTS shows what happens when women from different cultures and skill sets come together,” Amin said. “It leads to denim with a whole new perspective.”

The capsule debuted at the October Kingpins Show in Amsterdam.

“For US Denim Mills, the collection reinforces a longstanding belief: Innovation is strongest when it’s human. Women have always been the roots of creation—nurturing, shaping and driving change,” said Intizar Ali, general manager of research and business development at US Denim Mills. “Each fabric, motif and collaboration becomes proof that denim’s future will be defined not just by what we make, but by how we come together to make it.”
