Trendalytics Names Top Spring/Summer 2026 Runway Trends

From emotionally charged minimalism to a reimagined return to officewear, Spring/Summer 2026 women’s fashion is defined by contrasts—between structure and softness, nostalgia and futurism, and the practical and the poetic.

In a webinar this week, Kendall Becker, Trendalytics fashion and beauty director, recapped the biggest trends of the season, diving into color, fabric, print and key items. She outlined the season through four overarching themes, noting distinct differences in how designers in New York interpreted them compared to their European counterparts. Overall, Becker said Spring/Summer 2026 will be remembered as a season marked by less transatlantic cohesion.

In Emotional Minimalism, staple items in New York were punched up with exciting color, interesting draping, or artful cutouts that give a “little extra pizzazz to pieces.” Cobalt blue, singular statement outfits and stacked bracelets trended in Europe.

Office attire’s comeback was evident in Working for It, a theme centered on sculptural structure and nods to the ’80s. Neckties were especially popular in New York.

In Riviera Romance, feminine silhouettes and prints were more elevated compared to last spring’s coquette styling. Abstract watercolor prints, vintage florals and softer rose tones were paired with ruffles,

Becker added how consumers’ yearning for escapism is showing up in fashion through multiple aesthetics—from Off-White’s sporty yet politically-driven collection to Balmain’s exploration of bohemia. Deconstructed and worn-in leather, denim and knits emphasized a dystopian feeling.

In general, she said designers showed a balanced approach to denim, with New York and London leaning into grungier designs and Paris and Milan steering toward relaxed tailoring.

Cobalt is already making an impact. Becker said market adoption for the vibrant blue is up 270 percent, indicating that “retailers are really believing in this trend” and are bringing it into their current assortment. “Near primary colors” like maize and hibiscus are gaining traction, balanced by lilac, olive and subdued pinks.

“People really talking about these new shades of pink as we’ve moved on from hot pink to some of these more mid tone iterations,” she said.

Snake print is slowly making its way back, giving leopard and zebra a rest. “As we always are searching for new neutrals, snakeskin acts as a beautiful alternative,” Becker said.

Key fabrics include utility-driven fabrics with nylon, knit wear and chiffon—ideal for the season’s mature take on femininity.

Becker called out funnel-neck jackets, bra tops and balloon pants as important items. After barrel-leg jeans and relaxed trousers, she said the breezy and relaxed pant “perfectly aligned with our headspace at the moment.” Rugby shirts and variations of trench coats are also trending up for spring.
