Rebecca Black is proving she’s a master of reinvention, and it’s evident in both her music and bold fashion choices.

The hyper-pop singer, set to release her highly anticipated project “Salvation” in January, has been making waves with her distinctly edgy looks in 2024. One standout moment was her performance at London’s Mighty Hoopla, where she rocked a tight-fitting denim corset paired with a Barbie-pink mini skirt and accessorized with a bedazzled chainsaw (no, it wasn’t actually operational).

The underground tastemaker is also at the forefront of the micro-denim shorts trend—often spotted pairing them with oversized T-shirts and statement sunglasses—securing her title as a trendsetter.

TikToker-turned-mainstream sensation Addison Rae is owning the fashion scene.

Over the past year, the 24-year-old pop star has sported a series of bold—yet controversial—looks that have kept the internet buzzing. One of the most talked-about moments was her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she stunned in a white satin bra and panty set adorned with scalloped trim.

While the internet icon’s edgy choices often spark online debate, Rae also shows her versatility by embracing timeless pieces like classic blue jeans, frequently paired with a small top—or nothing at all, as seen on the cover of her breakout single, “Diet Pepsi.”

“Icy Girl” Saweetie is heating up fashion.

Known for her glitzy and glamorous style, the rapper has mastered the art of dressing up denim, often styling skinny jeans with statement accessories—including her infamous Christian Louboutin heels—to create chic and sexy outfits.

Earlier this year, Saweetie also teamed up with True Religion, showcasing a range of pieces from their Spring 2024 campaign. The collection included denim halter tops, graphic tees, patchwork designs and baggy jeans, further digging her heels into the denim world.

The economic impact of Taylor Swift extended far beyond the small businesses thriving along her record-breaking The Eras Tour in 2024—it also had a significant influence on the denim brands she wore. Off stage, Swift’s taste for Area’s crystal-embellished denim led to a 331 percent increase in searches after she wore the brand’s spliced jeans to Super Bowl LVIII in February.

Swift’s effortlessly chic denim style strikes a chord with her millennial and Gen Z fan base. Classic styles like denim corset tops, skinny jeans, and high-waisted short-shorts paired with tall boots are staples in her off-duty pop star wardrobe, underscoring the value of investing in timeless pieces.

A fixture on global best-dressed lists, it’s no surprise that musician, entrepreneur, and creator Pharrell Williams continued to turn heads in impeccable denim throughout 2024. However, his influence on fashion reached new heights this year as the creative director of Louis Vuitton Men’s. With the unveiling of the F/W 24-25 collection, inspired by American rodeo culture, Williams ignited a bold Western revival in denim, setting a trend that became impossible to ignore.

Williams put his own twist on the Americana aesthetic by styling his wardrobe of white, black, light wash and dark wash bootcut jeans with everything from leather fringe moto jackets, classic zip-up knits and preppy polo shirts to cropped double-breasted blazers, rodeo jackets and cowboy hats.

A$AP Rocky is reinventing denim business casual. The 2025 co-chair for the 2025 Met Gala (alongside Pharrell Williams and LeBron James) sported neckties and jeans throughout the year. In Paris, A$AP wore a black tie and baggy gray jeans to the first-ever runway show of AWGE, the brand founded by his creative consultancy. The Bottega Veneta ambassador also stepped out in New York City dressed in the Italian fashion house’s trompe-l’œil leather jeans, button-down shirt and necktie.

A$AP Rocky is also making waves in the world of attention-grabbing denim. AWGE’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection has turned heads among denim enthusiasts, featuring bold, directional trends like multiple waistbands, layered constructions, and shredded surface details.

#4: Post Malone

While Post Malone may sing about “Levii’s Jeans” in his duet with Beyoncé, the rap/pop/country star is firmly loyal to Wrangler.

The heritage brand’s Cowboy Cut Slim Fit jeans became his go-to choice for high-profile events in 2024, starting with his performance of “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LVIII. He rocked the same style at both the Academy of Country Music Awards and Stagecoach just a few months later.

While Post Malone is known for wearing jorts on tour, straight jeans with a center creases and large belt buckles have become part of his uniform as he crosses musical genres and tries on country.

#3: Troye Sivan

As if dominating the cultural zeitgeist all year wasn’t impressive enough, Australian singer-songwriter Troye Sivan also turned heads in fashion.

Known for his laid-back approach to denim, Sivan often styles loose-fit jeans with a simple, shrunken T-shirt. This year, however, the “Rush” singer elevated his style on the main stage during the “Sweat” tour with Charli XCX. During his Nashville show, he rocked a variety of denim looks, including a dark wash pair of mini shorts, paired with black chaps and an American flag tank top.

The heartthrob also appeared in Gap’s fall campaign, where he wore dark wash baggy jeans with a relaxed Supima cotton T-shirt. In a second look, he sported ‘90s-inspired loose cargo jeans in brown, styled with a heavyweight zip hoodie and a corduroy jacket, paying homage to his everyday look while cementing his status as a style icon.

#2: Charli XCX

From igniting TikTok dance trends with her album “Brat” to reviving club culture, Charli XCX has undoubtedly had one of the biggest impacts on pop culture this year. In addition to redefining the pop landscape, the avant-pop and electronic superstar also influenced denim trends.

In 2024, the “Apple” singer became the new face of Acne Studios—along with H&M and Skims, to name a few—modeling a range of looks from the Spring 2025 coated denim collection, paired with bold accessories from the Stockholm-based luxury fashion house.

Meanwhile, for her joint “Sweat” tour with Troye Sivan, she turned heads in an array of Acne Studios outfits. One of the most notable looks was for her Madison Square Garden show where she wore a custom-made dress inspired by Acne Studios’ Spring/Summer 2025 men’s wear collection. The outfit was cinched with an array of denim and leather belts, adding an edgy flair to her look.

When she’s not making a statement in Acne Studios, Charli XCX can be caught rocking classic loose-fit blue jeans slung low enough to reveal a hint of her underwear, staying true to her effortlessly cool aesthetic.

#1: Beyoncé

The cultural impact of Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” album left an indelible mark on the fashion world in 2024. Following the release of this genre-defying album, the 32-time Grammy Award-winning superstar elevated the rodeo-inspired look to iconic status, setting the tone for a new era in style. By embracing a bold Western dress code, Beyoncé has not only popularized the cowgirl aesthetic but has also solidified its hold on trendsetters everywhere. Standout pieces from her cowgirl era include Louis Vuitton’s statement denim chaps, Paige’s flare jeans, and Swarovski-crystal-encrusted daisy dukes—each more unforgettable than the last.

Yet, the greatest beneficiary of Beyoncé’s cultural influence was Levi’s. The release of her single” Levii’s Jeans” sparked a surge in consumer interest, leading to a 19.9 percent increase in foot traffic to Levi’s brick-and-mortar stores, according to Pass_by, an AI-driven geospatial insights company. The brand teamed with Beyoncé’ to launch “Reiimagine,” a global campaign and homage to Levi’s iconic 1985 Launderette ad. In this new version, Beyoncé strips down to her underwear, washing her beloved Levi’s jeans—further cementing her role as a trendsetter in both music and fashion.
