Still Here Opens First Brooklyn Store

Still Here—the brand behind Zoë Kravitz’s waistband-free jeans—is coming home.

The New York-based denim brand launched by Sonia and Maurice Mosseri in 2019, will open its first store in Williamsburg this month. The husband-and-wife co-founders grew up in Brooklyn and spent their youth immersed in Williamsburg’s creative and cultural scene in the late 2000s.

Located at 170 Wythe Avenue, the store draws inspiration from 1920s dressmaking salons. Waxed walls create a “glowing, almost liquid backdrop” to the brand’s denim. Surfaces feature seeded glass, while custom artwork nods to Still Here’s family history. The new store builds on the minimal yet detailed aesthetic of the brand, utilizing elegant materials and creative proportions.

Trying jeans on and experiencing the brand in boutique settings have been key aspects of Still Here’s growth strategy. Still Here has two other stores in New York City’s Nolita and Upper East Side neighborhoods. Each store reflects its neighborhood while still feeling part of the same brand.

The Williamsburg location marks the first time the Mosseris have hired a design studio for a store. New York-based design firm Husband Wife, founded Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco, led the design.

Justin Capuco explained how Husband Wife shares a similar design ethos as Still Here. “It’s this surgical attention to detail that makes Still Here cool and elegant in a way that’s entirely their own. We aimed for this slant of style when designing the store —crafting subtle moments of surrealism and avant-garde flair in unexpected elements,” he said.

“I was drawn to Justin and Brittney because of the creative tension in their work—a mix of high design and warmth,” said Sonia Mosseri. “Retail spaces are our chance to welcome people into our world, and I instantly felt like they would understand how to encapsulate this—between styles, colors and textures—and bring the space to life in the most Still Here way.”
