Pre-Fall 2026 Denim Delivers Cozy, Roomy Fits

A cozy, homebody vibe filters across designers’ Pre-Fall 2026 collections, particularly in denim. Dark washes, workwear influences and a variety of fits help tell the story.

Stella McCartney celebrates the Chinese Year of the Horse in a collection that borrows style cues from the Scottish countryside dressing—a region that Pinterest said will have a big influence on fashion in 2026.  Material mixing such as denim and brown corduroy jeans and jackets, ripped and repaired jeans, and roomy wide-leg jeans are part of the collection, which also features multi-color crochet scarves and horse knits.

Dark wash denim is part of Veronica Beard’s retro Western collection. High waisted boot cut jeans are punctuated with gold hardware, patch pockets and prominent center seams. Valentino pairs dark wash jeans with an exposed button-fly with a skinny tie and check blazer. A pair of men’s pleated denim trousers is paired with a scallop-pattern knit top.

3.1 Phillip Lim’s utilitarian approach to denim also calls for dark wash denim. The collection includes a denim workwear jacket accented with a contrasting collar and matching midi skirt. The New York-based label also hops on the dress-over-jeans styling trend, pairing a halter neck denim dress with wide-leg jeans.

In general, fits were loose and relaxed. Nili Lotan showed slouchy fits with a tinted dirty wash, as well as a jean jacket with epaulets. Off-White’s baggy jeans were accented with prints and cargo pockets placed at the shins. MM6 Maison Margiela showed light wash baggy jeans with hammer loops alongside straight fit jeans with a pocket patch just above the knee.

Longer jean jacket styles were part of Erdem and Dsquared2’s collections. Both brands used laser in different ways to embellish the outerwear. Off-White hybrid jean jacket was padded wand had a drawstring hood. R13 added rounded sleaves to its Trucker.

Denim jackets, skirts and dresses play important roles in Diesel’s collection, as well as wide belts. The Italian brand continues its tradition of fabric manipulation with “jogg jeans” that are printed with distressed trompe l’oeil motifs and double-weft denim, which allows the upper layer to be destroyed, still leaving the garment intact.
