There’s a new player in the luxury denim category.
This week the French luxury fashion house Alaïa launched Alaïa Denim.
Described as a “study of fit and form,” the collection is designed to “sublimate the body and reveal its lines, expressing a precise and enduring vision of femininity.”
“Purity, simplicity, and savoir-faire converge towards the idea of the perfect fit,” the brand added.
Alaïa Denim consists of six fits. The Rounded is a barrel-meets-balloon fit with a rounded yet structured silhouette. The rigid jean is hand-sanded to emphasize its fullness. The Bootcut has curved pockets that trace the front, patch pockets that anchor the back. The elongated silhouette subtly flares at the knee.
The Straight is a mid-rise jean that falls straight from the hip. It features curved front pockets and patch pockets at the back with signature Alaïa darts. The Palazzo is a wide and fluid jean that extends the leg. The Fit and Flare is an ankle-length jean with a fitted leg and a flare hem
The collection’s Skinny jean is a nod to Alaïa’s idea of second skin. “The fit is precise and uninterrupted, with an ankle length that sharpens the outline,” the brand stated.
Washes span vintage blue, deep sea blue, light dock blue and sand-washed blue. Japanese fabrics made with 100 percent cotton are used throughout the line. Each jeans has a denim back patch made with the same wash.
The collection retails for $1,100-$1,500. It’s available at Alaïa boutiques, on Alaïa’s website and at select retail partners worldwide.
