Street Style: Baggy Jeans Meet Traditional Tailoring at Pitti Uomo

Tastemakers gathered last week at Pitti Uomo in Florence to view Fall/Winter 2024-2025 collections.

The kick-off event to men’s fashion weeks around the world brought out attendees dressed in classic tailoring, heritage designs and monochromatic looks. Others crossed style codes, pairing a ’90s aesthetic suiting with blanket coats, football scarves with leather racing jackets, and preppy knits with utilitarian outerwear.

Denim naturally fit into this mix-and-match approach to styling. Attendees layered classic Trucker jackets under wool coats and worn-in leather jackets. Another attendee wore a deconstructed trench coat constructed from traditional gabardine and raw denim. A puffer coat was worn under a pair of overalls.

On the bottom half, jeans were worn loose and baggy by men and women. The wider fits were balanced by cropped puffer coats, printed chore coats and oversized novelty knits. Some opted for slimmer bootcut jeans. One attendee stepped out in denim patchwork coordinates.

Elements of normcore like baseball caps and fanny packs were abound. The Pitti crowd also embraced workwear, which filled the void left by logo-laden streetwear and athleisure falling out of style. Camouflage-printed jackets, mechanics jackets, insulated vests and carpenter pants were some of the popular items.
