Loose Threads: Levi’s, Madewell and Frame

Here’s a quick roundup of the latest news from leading denim brands.

Levi’s

Curve jeans are not new to the women’s denim market, but they’ve been unchartered territory for Levi’s signature product—until now. The heritage brand introduced the 501 Curve, a jean designed to “celebrate and fit curves” without compromising the style’s iconic straight-leg silhouette.

The jean maintains a high rise, button fly and straight leg. A more contoured hip-to-waist ratio to eliminate back gapping, while extra room in the seat and thigh delivers a sculpted fit.

“We went through many variations and wear-tests to land on this shape, and we feel that it’s a truly authentic 501 jean imbued with Levi’s DNA, but for a curvy body that might not have been able to find the right fit with our other 501 fits,” said Jill Guenza, vice president of women’s apparel design at Levi’s. “It’s an exceptional moment in our history.”

The 501 Curve is available now on Levi’s website and app and in select stores. It is available in five washes and retails for $98.

Madewell

Volume continues to trend in women’s denim. Madewell recently launched the Balloon Jean, a 100 percent cotton jean designed with a high rise and exaggerated barrel-leg shape.

The jean, which fits easy through the hip and thigh with a full-length inseam and crisp creases at the front and back, has a broken-in feel. The Balloon in available in standard petite, tall and plus sizes. It is available in white and two vintage blue washes. It retails for $148.

Frame is adding variety to men’s jeans this fall. The premium lifestyle brand’s new collection offers a Relaxed Jean crafted from rigid denim with a lived-in look and a Bootcut Jean in a western-inspired wash.

The jeans are part of Frame’s Fall 2025 collegiate-inspired collection that incorporates denim with a blend of wool and suede fabrics, cashmere knits in muted autumnal colors, lightweight layering pieces and modernized outerwear.

Other highlights include the textured Sailor Sweater in an alpaca-merino blend, a nostalgic ’70s Suede Blazer in camel, a Woolen Plaid Overshirt available in grey melange and tweed, and a Pinstripe Wool Blazer and matching wide-leg trousers.

The fall collection is available now on Frame’s website and at global retail partners.
