Levi’s premiumization has been a years-long journey, fueled by exclusive limited-edition drops, high-profile designer collaborations, and moments on the couture runway. Now, a new collection takes it further, showcasing the most refined and sophisticated expression of Levi’s denim expertise.
For Spring 2025, Levi’s is launching Blue Tab, a men’s and women’s collection that revisits the brand’s history of crafting authentic workwear and wardrobe staples while celebrating the “art of denim dressing.” The collection will retail for $78-$398.
In many ways, the collection is a marriage of Levi’s Vintage Clothing and Levi’s Made in Japan product lines. Blue Tab focuses on modernized classic looks and premium fabrics, including proprietary selvedge denim created alongside Japan’s Kaihara Denim Mill. Elevated fabrics such as neppy denim, chambray shirting, and lightweight, rich inky hued selvedge denim are used throughout the line.
“Each garment is reimagined using modern fabrics and effortless styling, bridging the past and the future,” Levi’s stated.
For men, the Blue Tab collection is rooted in Americana stylings. New fits include the Marker Loose, made with drapey, lightweight denim. The Scout jacket is crafted with a powder blue selvedge denim. Levi’s iconic fits like the 511 and 502 are also made with dark selvedge denim.
Outerwear and shirts are part of the collection. The new men’s Blue Tab Type 1 Jacket is cropped with an engineered sleeve. A fishtail parka is made with lightweight neppy denim shirting, and fnished with elegant sundries. For shirts, the new heavyweight classic white T-shirt is versatile and understated while a work shirt is done in lightweight chambray.
The women’s Blue Tab capsule emphasizes sophisticated denim tailoring and feminine craftsmanship. Standout pieces include a blazer paired with wide-legged trousers and the new Carve fit, a modern silhouette with a straight outseam and shaped inseam that creates a slight bell at the bottom.
The line offers a seamless head-to-toe denim ensemble featuring the Type I-inspired Trucker jacket and light wash seamed skirt, which has a dramatic curved front and seam details. The utility dress is a lightweight, drapey reinterpretation of a classic mechanic suit, while the barn jacket and arpenter pants are adorned with chambray lining and collar accents. Other key fits include Column and Barrell jeans.
The collection also includes minimalist women’s shirts, like the Club Shirt with subtle western yoke details, and a denim work shirt.
The unique branding for Blue Tab pays homage to Levi Strauss and Co. history. In the Levi’s Archives, the Levi’s design team found a stock issuance certificate from 1925 that used a distinct typography for the “Levi Strauss and Co.” font. The logo, used throughout the Blue Tabs’s labeling and packaging, is based on this historic typography.
Levi’s iconic two-horse patch is revamped with the collection’s distinct branding, making it both elevated and easily recognizable, the brand stated. Additionally, all pieces in the collection will feature a blue version of Levi’s iconic red tab.
Levi’s Blue Tab will launch in Japan on Feb. 1. It will debut in the U.S. in April. Levi’s teamed with esteemed photographer Juergen Teller to create the collection’s first campaign, set in a serene Japanese tea house.
